With her infamous blog and witty outlook on high school, Jenna Hamilton is back for season four of MTV’s critically acclaimed series Awkward. Premiering October 22, teens across the country stayed up past their bed times till 10:30 eastern time and tuned in, making it a hit for the night and exciting fans about the episodes to come.
Known for its outstanding actors and actress, the season premiere held that same standard. The cast was simply phenomenal, as they depicted high school accurately through the eyes of a stereotypical teenage girl.
This season Jenna, played by Ashley Rickards, and her friends face a series of new obstacles: a risqué affair, new relationships, drugs, depression, and alcohol. While these issues may be unchartered territory for the show and its cast members, they are far more familiar to real-life adolescents making the show relate to its audience on a whole new level.
And spoiler alert: Matty and Jenna’s relationship faces troubled waters by the end of the first episode. But that’s no trouble for those watching, as a little extra drama is never something to fret about in the world of television. As for the other characters, Tamara is still Jenna’s trusted sidekick, as Jake is to Matty. Sadie is still the narcissistic mean girl that viewers love to hate. While Mrs. Hamilton is still tring to buddy up to Jenna to replace bad parenting, Val is still the worst guidance counselor ever. And bad boy Collin, portrayed by Nolan Gerard Funk, continues to steal the hearts of teenage girls as he pursues Jenna despite her being tied down to Matty, making them star-crossed lovers. It’s no longer team Matty vs. team Jake; this season its team Matty vs. team Collin. Brute vs. brains, but which will prevail?
