The 81st Golden Globes took place on January 7 for film and American television productions. Many celebrities and actors had a chance to partner with luxury brands to express their own creativity, but the Barbie cast outshone them all.
Margot Robbie
Barbie herself, Margot Robbie, was dressed in Giorgio Armani and of course, she had to wear pink. In a sequin floor-length gown, she paired it with a pink polka dot tulle boa draped to the floor. For the after party, she switched into the same outfit but all in black. Robbie was able to pull two great looks during that night.
During the ceremony, the movie was awarded “cinematic box office achievement.” The Barbie movie reached more than $1.3 billion at the worldwide box office.
“Thank you Ryan Gosling for going full beach,” Margot Robbie said. “Thank you so much for the Golden Globes for creating an award that celebrates movie fans. This movie is about Barbie, but it’s also a movie about humans. It’s about you. We made it for you, and we made it with love, and thank you for loving it back.”
Billie Eilish
Billie Eilish wrote the song “What Was I Made For?” on the Barbie soundtrack and won “best original song.”
“A year ago from today, I was very, very miserable and depressed at the time. Writing that song kind of saved me a bit,” Eilish said when accepting her award.
On the red carpet, Eilish’s look might be questionable to some people, but it revealed her personality and uniqueness throughout her outfit. Eilish wore an oversized blazer and a pleated skirt. She decided to use the ribbon she received as a birthday present to accessorize her collared shirt. She finished the look with thrifted mary janes, accessorized with red stockings.
America Ferrera
“You know it’s literally impossible to be a woman,” American Ferrera said during the ceremony. “‘You know that, ‘You’re so beautiful. You so smart and kills me that you don’t think you good enough.’ That was pretty good.”
Ferrera’s red carpet look shows elegance and simplicity all in one. Ferrera was dressed in Dolce and Gabbana. She wore a silver sparkly gown with flower embellishments attached. Layered diamond necklaces and earrings are Harry Winston. Ferrera’s outfit was able to portray excitement while still keeping it low-key.
Greta Gerwig
Greta Gerwig wore FENDI to accept her award for best director of a motion picture. This silhouette of the black dress suited her very well paired with black opera gloves. The draping on her gown showed sleekness and gave a meaningful look for Gerwig. Gerwig is shown wearing Pomellato earrings.
During her acceptance speech, Gerwig gushed about making Barbie. “It was the greatest, most joyful show of craftsmanship and passion I’ve ever seen,” Gerwig said.
