Teachers share their favorite past senior pranks at Bellbrook High School

With the school year coming to a close, will a senior prank at Bellbrook High School be ahead of us? The students and staff are curious as to what this year’s prank will be.

According to our principal, pranks can happen within guidelines. “Always check the prank with me,” principal Mr. Hann said. The pranks can’t be destructive, disruptive of classes, and not cause more work for the custodians.

“I notice that the best pranks are the small harmless ones that are creative,” Hann said.

Bagpipes, alarm clocks in lockers, and laying down in the hallway between bell periods have been a few of the past pranks at BHS.

While reflecting on senior pranks, many teachers at BHS shared their opinions on their favorite past pranks. “The year that students covered Mr. Baker’s office with bras and signs that said, ‘Thank you for all your support,’” teacher Mrs.Giles said. “Pretty funny.”

“My favorite was the year they dug a huge hole behind the rock out front,” science teacher Mrs. Riggs said. Students were eventually able to tip it over into the hole they dug, buried it, and the admin thought someone stole it. It took several days before they realized it was buried out front.

“We had to fundraise to pay someone to dig it back up and put it back in place,” Riggs said. “It was too heavy and needed equipment to complete the job. I thought it was hilarious.”

“When the senior class all crowded together in the hallway, it looked like a fight,” science teacher Mrs. Goodwin said. “When the admin showed up, there were two students playing chess. They had Mr. Baker fooled.”

While some teachers find the senior pranks to be funny, there are others who would disagree.

“I am usually annoyed by pranks because they usually are either embarrassing or destructive,” social studies teacher Mr. Parks said. “If something is harmless or silly, I am all for it.”

Remember, always check the idea by Mr. Hann before doing the prank!
