The film is being produced by series creator, Shigeru Miyamoto, and Avi Arad, who has been a producer on many Marvel and Spider-Man movies.

The film will be directed by Wes Ball, known for the Maze Runner franchise  and most recently, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. Ball has been speaking about what he wants to do with the movie in multiple interviews and what he’s been saying has been reassuring to fans.

“I’ve played ‘Legend of Zelda’ throughout my childhood and my adulthood,” Ball said in an interview with The Direct. “I am a fellow fan. I will go to the ends of the earth to make sure that it is the movie we all hope it will be.”

The film is being distributed by Sony. “The Super Mario Bros Movie,” another Nintendo property, was made and distributed by Universal Pictures. The movie production companies are Nintendo and Arad Productions. Nintendo is financing more than 50% of the movie’s budget.

The movie’s screenwriter is Derek Connolly, who has worked on movies like Detective Pikachu, the Jurassic World Trilogy, and Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker.

We still don’t know who will be in the movie, when it might come out, what the story will be, and much more. We most likely won’t know much more for a while, as the movie is most likely still years away.
