Jacob Page comes to Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Schools from Colerain High School of the Northwest Local district in the Cincinnati area where he was a band teacher for seven years.
“I have worked in two other districts, but within those districts, I have worked at a total of six schools,” Page said.
Page graduated from Trinity Area High School in Washington, Pennsylvania, and received a teaching degree from Youngstown State University in Ohio.
“I can play all of your typical band instruments, this includes brass, woodwinds, and percussion. My primary instrument is a tuba with a secondary in clarinet,” Page said. “My favorite to play depends on the day but is most likely the tuba.”
Page is directing the marching band, symphony band and a couple of ensembles at Bellbrook Middle School. Along with that, he is assisting Mrs. Barb Siler with the Wind Ensemble.
“My first impression was how much energy he brought to the interview,” Siler said. “He was friendly and knowledgeable, as well. All the necessary qualities in a successful band director! He fits right in and has similar philosophies as the rest of the band staff. I haven’t been around the marching band much this season yet, but he seems to be doing a great job there as well.”
The theme for the marching band’s show this year is Edward: The story of Edward Scissorhands. “My biggest goal for all the groups is to push themselves,” Page said. “Many of these groups have been successful in the past but I am hoping to bring a new approach to getting better every day.”
Bellbrook has a long tradition of excellence in its competition programs. “I am incredibly proud of their hard work so far and look to continue that momentum into the Indoor Percussion Ensemble and Winter Guard seasons,” Page said.
