Seniors at Bellbrook High School have come together for this year’s Powder Puff athletes. Powder Puff is an event during Bellbrook Homecoming week where the girls become the (flag) football players and the boys become the cheerleaders.
Purple and White are the two opposing teams playing against each other on the new stadium turf October 2 at 7:15pm to see who the best flag football team is.
Alanna Pangburn, a volleyball player, is the quarterback for the Purple team. It wasn’t hard for Pangburn to attain her position. “The football players asked me to throw the ball to them,” Pangburn said. “When I did, their jaws dropped and then they pointed to me saying that they discovered their QB 1.”
The Purple quarterback was an easy find but things haven’t been going the best for the team. “Practice and games have been a little rough,” Pangburn said. “I think our team just needs to lock in and get the dub.”
Although practices have been rough for the Purple team so far, there’s still a lot of hope that resonates within Pangburn because of the team dynamic. “I think we have a good chance at winning because of the different athletes on our team,” Pangburn said.
Kendra Walker, an all-star cheerleader, is the quarterback for the White team. Like Pangburn, Walker got her quarterback position fairly easily. “One practice I was playing O-line just messing around throwing the ball,” Walker said. “Then they saw I could throw and made me QB.”
According to Walker, practices for the White team have been going well. “Practice is good,” Walker said. “We’ve been running plays, making sure everyone knows the name of plays and where to be.”
Walker has confidence that the White team will win this year’s match. “The white is the better team, obviously, and we always grind at practice,” Walker said.
