Who will America be voting for to be the next President of the United States?

This time of the year is the most important time of year because this is when the people of the United States of America vote for the president of the U.S. This year’s 2024-2025 election has had its surprises.

The initial matchup saw current President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump. However, Biden stepped down from the election. According to the AP News, “President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 race for the White House [in July], ending his bid for reelection after a disastrous debate with Donald Trump that raised doubts about the incumbent’s fitness for office.”

Biden then endorsed his Vice President Kamala Harris to take on Trump.

Donald Trump is the Republican candidate. In Ohio, there are a total of 1,508,641 registered Republicans. Trump was the third president in the U.S to be impeached by the U.S. House of Representatives and the only president to be impeached twice—once in 2019 and once in 2021. Trump lost to Biden in 2020, but he is back again fighting for the third time.

Even though he wasn’t in office, he still kept pretty busy campaigning this cycle. According to Britannica, “Trump had gained notoriety as a real-estate developer and businessman who owned, managed, or licensed his name to hotels, casinos, golf courses, resorts, and residential properties in New York City and around the world.”

Kamala Harris is the Democratic candidate and serves as 49th Vice president of the U.S. In Ohio there are a total of 817,063 of registered Democrats.  As Vice President, she has worked to bring people together to advance opportunity, deliver for families, and protect fundamental freedoms across the country. The White House press materials said Harris “led the fight for the freedom of women to make decisions about their own bodies, the freedom to live safe from gun violence, the freedom to vote, and the freedom to drink clean water and breathe clean air.”
