Meet the Teams is an event that happens every year. At Meet the Teams, they introduce the members of the Wee Eagles, middle school, and high school girls and boys basketball teams. They also introduce the middle and high school basketball cheerleaders.

“Meet the Teams helps promote the basketball team and helps get younger teams like the 8th grade team information about Bellbrook high school basketball,” Natalie Bruckman, a sophomore on the varsity girls basketball team, said. “I feel like it went well this year, and a lot of the younger teams showed up.”

This year Meet the Teams started out with the high school basketball cheerleaders dancing to the Bellbrook fight song. Then the Wee Eagles boys and girls basketball team players got introduced one by one. When the teams get introduced, they are in the crowd and will stand up and receive a round of applause.

After all the Wee Eagles teams were introduced, the 6th grade teams for boys and girls competed in a 5 on 5 using half of the court. On one side of the court, it was the 6th grade girls purple team versus the 6th grade girls gold team, and on the other side is the 6th grade boys purple team versus the 6th grade boys gold team.

Then the 7th grade boys and girls basketball teams got introduced. After they were introduced, they competed in a free throw competition where the first team to get 10 baskets won. Then the 8th grade boys and girls basketball teams got introduced and competed in the same competition.

After the 7th and 8th grade girls and boys basketball teams got introduced, the 7th and 8th grade basketball cheer teams performed a dance. In middle school, the basketball cheer teams also make up the competition team, so they performed their competition routine.

Next, the high school teams got introduced, starting with the boys and girls JV teams. They came out of the crowd and stood in a line on the court while the announcer talked a little bit about their team and who their coaches are.

Then, the JV and Varsity basketball cheer teams got introduced. After they got introduced, they performed a cheer with the Wee Eagles basketball cheerleaders. Then the varsity cheer team performed a dance that leads into a tunnel where the boys and girls varsity basketball teams got introduced.

When the girls and boys Varsity basketball teams get introduced, from freshmen, to sophomores, then juniors, and finally seniors. As their names were announced, they ran out of the tunnel that was created by the cheerleaders.

Once they have been introduced, they competed in a boys versus girls three-pointer challenge. The team that got to ten three-pointers first wins. This year the girls won.

To conclude the evening, the boys basketball team competed in a dunk contest to see if they can make any in.

“Meet the teams this year went really well. It was well organized and everyone was having fun,” senior varsity cheerleader Phoebe Bretland said. “The cheerleaders did a good job this year. We were able to learn lots of new material in just a short amount of time.”
