Walt Disney Studios released “Moana 2,” November 27. “Moana 2” takes place after the events of the original. Since it was released close to Thanksgiving day, families went out to watch the new Disney sequel.
The description of the movie on Fandango’s website said, “Walt Disney Studios reunites Moana and Maui for an expansive new voyage alongside a crew of unlikely seafarers. After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced.”
Reviews from “Moana 2” are mixed with a 7.1/10 review on IMDb and 63% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Critical reviews shared in the Rotten Tomatoes are conflicted between if the movie is worth the watch or not. “It’s not epic like the first one, but it’s see-worthy,” critic Linda Cook said. “’Moana 2′ is more of the same. It’s not quite as good as the first one, but your kids will most likely love it,” critic Mark Jackson said.
Many agree that it is not as good as the first movie but the animation is great. “The animation is impressive. This is an easy film to watch,” critic Stephen Romei said. “It’s still a high-quality piece of work: a hurtling Disneyland rollercoaster ride that small children, especially, are bound to enjoy,” critic Nicholas Barber said.
Some students at Bellbrook High School “Moana 2” and had their own opinions on it. “I loved the movie and thought they did a good job with the plot,” senior Alanna Pangburn said. “I thought this movie was better than the last one because the plot was even more interesting than the first yet the songs in the first movie were better.”
Sophomore Brooklyn Baker said the plot of the movie was good but the music was worse than the first movie.
Junior Venus Aggarwal had lots of opinions on the “Moana 2” movie after watching it. “I think it couldn’t beat the first,” Aggarwal said. “It was stretched and the spoiler at the end just revealed that Moana 3 will be even more stretched out. It was good but Moana set really high expectations.”
