Local scholarships open up for BHS seniors

Bellbrook High School Counseling secretary Kiki Kramer posted a Google Form application regarding local scholarships awarded to Bellbrook Seniors by the community. Filling out this one application, every student is automatically applying to over 35 scholarships only available to current BHS seniors. The application is due on February 20.

“It is so important to fill out the Local Scholarship Application if you are planning to attend a vocational school, two year or a four year college,” Kramer said.  “Many of our local scholarships are specific to certain criteria.”

Anya Schrumpf, BHS class of 2024 alumni currently studying education at The Ohio State University, received multiple local scholarships at the end of her senior year.

“I received three local scholarships. One was the Principal Scholarship, and the others were for students going to college to become teachers,” Schrumpf said. “These scholarships went towards paying for my tuition and fees which helped a lot as a first-year student.”

“Current seniors should fill out the application because no matter where they end up next year, any scholarship they receive will highly benefit them while paying their first years tuition,” Schrumpf said.

The scholarships offered are coming from families, clubs and organizations throughout the Bellbrook-Sugarcreek area, and are not just for students planning to attend a traditional four year college.

“There are quite a few scholarships for students going the vocational or two year school path, and even for students that might have not scored as high of grades through HS,” Kramer said. “It is important to know that these scholarships are available to ALL seniors at BHS, not just those who achieved a 4.0.”

Filling out the application includes giving information about yourself, your family, career goals, future plans, and activities you were a part of, in and out of school, during their years at BHS.

“Be honest on your form,” Kramer said. “If there is something that sets you apart, put it down. Your application might just stand out to one of the groups.”
