HOSA hosts Masquerade Winter Formal

By: Kaylee Simmons

Every year Bellbrook High School has a Winter Formal that all their students have the option to attend and enjoy. Each year there is a different theme and this year that theme is Masquerade.

At a masquerade, everyone can wear masks and be really creative with it. Most students love the theme. Students will get a mask with their ticket that they can decorate however they want.

“Masks are complimentary with ticket purchases. Masks can be picked up in room 216,” HOSA advisor and science teacher Mrs. Goodwin said. “Buy your tickets early so you have time to personalize your mask!”

This year the dance will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. February 1 in the auxiliary gym at BHS. Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased online through the Athletic Office.

“I love the masquerade theme!” senior Emma Jenkins said. “As a member of student government, I’ve seen the masquerade theme be suggested for multiple dances, so I’m glad it’s the theme. Getting free masks is a nice perk.”

“I think the theme is fun and should be enjoyable for everyone,” sophomore Addision Bethel said.

This year HOSA will be hosting the Winter Formal at BHS. “HOSA — Future Health Professionals is an international organization that provides students with healthcare opportunities,” Jenkins said. “Members can get professional guidance, gain practical experience, and even compete in healthcare competitions.

“HOSA will organize and run the dance and receive the funds from the event. HOSA is using this as a fundraising event to send more members to their competitions.”

Supportive Peers hosted it last year but this year they chose not to. HOSA then requested to run it. “At HOSA we know that a strong community can improve mental health,” Mrs. Goodwin said. “By sponsoring this year’s Winter Formal, HOSA hopes to create a sense of community here at Bellbrook High School.”

HOSA will get some of the money from the dance so they are able to do more things. “We can use any extra money we earn for service projects and competition fees.” Mrs. Goodwin said. “We have already sponsored the winter blood drive and plan on providing another AED for the athletic department.”

“Unfortunately, I already have plans that night, so I’m not able to go,” Jenkins said. “I’ve gone in previous years though, so I still encourage people to go.”

“I plan to go to winter formal this year,” Bethel said. “It’s a fun way to go and dress up with friends and have a good time.”

“We have a new DJ for this year’s Winter Formal, so get some tickets and have a fun night, while supporting HOSA,” Jenkins said.
