The Super Bowl is the championship game of the National Football League (NFL). It is played by the winners of the league’s American Football Conference and National Football Conference and happens each year in late January or early February.
The Super Bowl is popular, and many can agree on their fondness for the event. “I like the Super Bowl because it’s one of the biggest games all year and one of the most watched sports events,” freshman Noah Baker said. “It’s pretty cool to watch the best two teams in the leagues go against each other.”
“I like the Super Bowl because I just like football in general,” freshman Micah Likens said.
“My favorite thing about the Super Bowl has to be the memories from past Super Bowls,” Bellbrook High School teacher Perry Caldwell said.
This year, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles are back at it again in the Super Bowl.
On February 12, 2023, the Chiefs and the Eagles went face to face at the State Farm Stadium in Arizona. In the end, the Chiefs won 38-35, and the Eagles are now returning for their retribution. On February 9, 2025, the Chiefs and the Eagles will be moving over to Caesars Superdome, all the way in Louisiana.
But despite their fall two years ago, fans are not giving up hope for the Eagles. “I’m rooting for the Eagles because I just never really liked the Chiefs,” Likens said.
“I’m rooting for the Eagles,” Baker said. “I don’t like the Chiefs because I like the Bills, and the Chiefs destroyed them” in the AFC Championship, January 26.
And Baker isn’t the only one to feel opposition to the Chiefs. “I’m rooting for the Eagles, as I don’t want the Chiefs dynasty to continue,” Caldwell said.
What’s the Super Bowl without a celebration? “I’ll probably watch it and have some sort of party, or something,” Baker said.
“I’ll probably have some sort of big party with either my family or my friends,” Likens said.
“I plan on watching the game with some friends and family,” Caldwell said. “There is always some good food available at those Super Bowl Parties.”
In the end, the Super Bowl brings many fans together, no matter what team they are rooting for.
