Lights! Camera! Action! On Friday, March 21, Bellbrook High School Student Government will be holding a talent show to showcase students and their talents before they head off on spring break.
“The sophomore reps for Student Government have planned the talent show this year with the help of Mrs. Mize and other advisors,” sophomore representative Ella Kapfhammer said. “As of right now, we have 12 acts.”
There will be a variety of acts including both students and teachers, and will be hosted by a group of seniors.
“The hosts this year will be Ava Praeter, Preston Pettit, Lucas Heckler and Taylor Turner,” Kapfhammer said. “We chose hosts based on who we thought would bring the most energy and excitement to the talent show. For the acts, everyone auditioned and we invited back a few of the popular acts from previous years.”
The talent show has been a tradition happening at BHS both before and after Covid to kick off spring break.
“The student council members have put a lot of work into the show by creating posters, reaching out to past participants, and showing up to assist with auditions,” sophomore class advisor and french teacher, Michelle Mize said. “We put in more behind the scenes work that is still happening until the show is over. The variety of acts is about the same, but we do have a few unique events we haven’t had before. We currently have 12 acts, but one of those is going to be split into a few different performances.”
In the past, attendance by seniors at the talent show has been low due to it being held at the end of the day and so many of them have early release.
“Seniors should return to watch the talent show to support their classmates, watch a few of their teachers perform, and see the hosts bring the talent show to life!” Kapfhammer said.
“I think it is super important that seniors return for the talent show,” senior senator Jordan Frantz said. “It’s our last chance to witness our classmates’ talents and a great overall school experience. I have been present at the talent show all three years and have loved every moment. It is something I have always looked forward to.”
The talent show will be free to all students at the main building, and those attending the Career Center or alternative schools. Student Government will be collecting donations for a charity suggested by social studies teacher, Stephanie Tomlin. The charity will provide support to a school in Tanzania.
