As the 2025 school year is nearing its end, the seniors are getting closer to graduating. What better way to end the year than with some fun events?
Student Government makes all of this possible, and consists of four senior members: President Emma Jenkins, Vice President Olivia Kalloor, and two senators, Jordan Frantz and Makayla Skinner. “The whole student government meets monthly to discuss different events that we have,” Kalloor said. “We also do different smaller events throughout the year.”
A lot must be done so the events can be properly executed.
“The process depends on each event, but most of the time we meet with our advisors and other members and discuss the different things we need to get done with each event,” Kalloor said. ”Most of the time, that entails making posters, Instagram posts, and sign-ups for the different events. One person leads each of the events, and then the other senior representatives support them with whatever they need.”
When coming up for different ideas, it is relatively easier. “We just throw out ideas and then choose what we like best,” Jenkins said. “It’s not really a hard process.”
“We mostly follow precedent; however, the execution of each event is based on what we deem best,” Kalloor said. “It is a mixture of our own ideas and previous years’ events.”
End-of-the-year Senior Events
PROM
Prom is August 26, from 8 pm to 11 pm, at Carillon Park. This year’s theme will be “Eternal Spring.”
“Prom is decided by the juniors, and we help them out with what they need to do,” Kalloor said.
SENIOR SPIRIT WEEK
On May 5, the seniors’ spirit week will begin. Monday’s theme will be Career Day, and Tuesday will be the iconic purple and gold. This is the same day the seniors will have their paint fight in the yard in the front of the school at 9 pm. The next day, the seniors will wear their shirts from that event. On Thursday, seniors will represent their respective colleges through their shirts.
“We go based on past themes, especially for spirit weeks, where we all take inspiration from the past years and use those,” Jenkins said.
To finish the week off, it will be tropical-themed for the Senior Picnic taking place later in the day at the stadium. The signups to volunteer to bring side dishes, small desserts, and games to the picnic will open up on April 29.
EXAMS
When the seniors return, their exams will take place between May 12 – 13. To qualify for exam exemptions, seniors must have a B or a B+ in their chosen class.
SENIOR AWARDS and SENIOR SUNSET
On May 14, Senior Awards and Recognition will take place at 9 am in the auditorium. Later on on the same day will be the senior sunset at 8:45 pm, a reflection of the senior sunrise that took place earlier in the school year.
KINGS ISLAND
The next day, the seniors will travel to Kings island for their senior trip. The signups will begin on March 31 and end April 21. The tickets can be purchased through either the Athletic Office, or online on Hometown Ticketing. For $38, tickets will grant admission and an armband for unlimited drinks for the whole day. Permission slips for the bus will be located outside of Mrs. Franz and Mrs. Kaeck’s rooms. They need to be signed before April 21 so the seniors can leave for Kings Island on May 15 at 9 am. The seniors will depart the park for Bellbrook High School at 5:30 pm.
GRADUATION
On May 16, the seniors will attend a mandatory graduation practice at 11 am in the stadium. Then, seniors can be ready for the actual graduation ceremony, which is May 17 at 1 pm in the stadium. Caps and gowns were available for pickup during lunch on April 7.
