With the temperature dropping, fall clothing has hit the students and staff at BHS.
Fall this year is seen as a continuous trend of conservatism in fashion. Styles such as skinny jeans and oversized crewnecks are popping up left and right.
“I love when people wear what they want to wear,” English teacher Paige Lewis said. “They look great, but it’s not for me.”
Alongside skinny jeans comes large boots in all forms. From slouch boots to equestrian boots, they are seen as the footwear of the season. Knee length boots add an appearance of an elongated silhouette.
“Boots can be a little harder to style,” senior Allison Gerbic said. “They can make great outfits, but you are going to have to add more time into them.”
Last fall, we saw the trench and barn jackets. Trench jackets have continued this year, but in addition we are seeing suede in the mix.
Suede isn’t just in style in outerwear, but in other items like footwear and bags. Like the past couple of seasons, big, oversized slouch bags are for the fall. Bags such as the Brooklyn bag by Coach are here to stay this season.
In summer 2025, we saw butter yellow take over the season. It was a short-lived microtrend for a few months. This fall, patterns like polka dots are projected to be the microtrend of the season.
“I love them and wish they could stay,” Gerbic said. “But the print blew up so big that people will start to get tired of them, and brands might try to pull back just because they got so big and basic.”
With polka dots, patterns like cow hide and various forms of plaid have been seen across the world. From fashion shows to retail stores, these prints are everywhere this season.
Crafting the perfect fall outfit looks different for everyone, despite what the trends say.
“My go-to outfit is flare or baggy jeans, Doc Martens, and a big sweater,” Gerbic said. “Basic, and probably like everyone else’s, but it’s me and I don’t see a problem with it!”
Finding these styles at affordable prices, the best places to shop are stores such as Abercrombie and Fitch, Garage, and Levi’s for the most basic styles.
If you’re looking for higher quality and higher prices, stores like Aritzia, Anthropologie, and Free People will have all the styles of season and more.
