Bellbrook has big plans for this season and the years to come.
With a rocky start to the football season, with two losses against Tippecanoe and Valley View and a win against Bellefontaine, the team needs a recovery in the next few games to maintain their chances of moving forward to playoffs and beyond.
This week, the team is focusing on Chaminade-Julienne (0-3 overall). The following week they face Archbishop Alter (2-1 overall), and two weeks from now they play Edgewood (0-3 overall).
As of now, Bellbrook’s lead in rushing yards goes to senior Gage Cameron with 130 yards, and a close second with 117 yards belonging to senior Vincent Epifano.
Bellbrook’s lead receiving yards are possessed by senior Noah Barrios with 7 receptions for 107 yards overall.
With an outstanding season last year (12-2 overall) and a long shot in the playoff season, expectations were high this season, but how will they still reach that?
“Our work ethic and our commitment to each other, and our discipline are what have allowed us to have so much success in the past,” Bellbrook High School head coach Jeff Jenkins said.
“I guess having the motivation for preparation for every week, and the disappointment to accept,” senior and team captain Talon Wannarka said. “We’ve taken a step every day, starting with the offseason. We just gotta show out on our abilities and be able to be consistent with that.”
Jenkins notes the importance and benefits of outworking the competition and the specific response to the adversity right now.
“None of them were better than us. It’s all about us,” captain Noah Barrios said. “We focus more on us, rather than the other team.”
