BHS preps for Homecoming 2025

Students are gearing up this week for one of the most anticipated parts of the school year: Homecoming Spirit Week. From quirky outfits to Friday night lights, BHS students are bringing the energy all week leading up to the dance, “A Night in Rio.” The spirit week themes are as follows: Adam Sandler Day, Red Flags, Purple and Gold, Alphabet Day, and Neon Day.

BHS senior Emmie Sears is looking forward to her final week of high school Homecoming festivities.

“I’m so excited and I feel like I’m taking everything in for one last time,” Sears said. “I like all of the themes. I feel like the alphabet one is a little bit different, but we do the same things each year, so it’s nice to have something new.”

Her favorite theme is Adam Sandler Day because she thinks a lot of people will dress up for it and it’s funny. But she plans on going all out for Friday’s neon theme. “Neon is super bright and people participate, so it makes a fun crowd,” Sears said.

This all culminates into the homecoming dance Saturday night: “A Night in Rio.” BHS junior Olive Varvel, a member of student government, is behind the theme this year. “I really like the movie Rio and I saw a Tik Tok that inspired me.”

Olive Varvel is a junior senator on student government and the face behind this year’s Homecoming dance theme.

Varvel credits her fellow student government members, juniors Ella Kapfhammer and Ava Stephens, for helping her convince the officers of the “Rio” theme. They are looking forward to decorating the gym for the dance with its vibrant color scheme and tropical aesthetic.
