Percy Jackson and the Olympians is an adapted TV show version of Rick Riordan’s best selling book series. The show just finished season two of its run on Disney+ and left many fans with a multitude of emotions over its finale events.
Most fans were excited but sad to wait for the next season. “There were a lot of surprises in the season finale for me and I was excited for it,” junior Ava Stephens said. “I always wish the episodes were longer though.”
Specific elements the show has added this season are keeping fans invested and on their toes. “The scene snippets at the end of the credits are a smart way to keep people interested till the end of the episode and for the next episode,” Stephens said.
“There was also an announcement at the end for season three this year which is exciting,” Stephens said. “It confirms we’ll get a new season and earlier than we thought. I wish there was an exact date, though. I feel like it will be this year and end up being in December.”
“I only read the first book and saw the original movies, but the show is what really got me into Percy Jackson,” Stephens said. “It has actually made me want to read the books.”
The books were previously adapted into two movies that received mixed reviews from book and movie fans, as well as the author of the books himself.
“I like the TV series a lot more,” Stephens said. “There’s more suspense waiting each week for a new episode. It allows for more attention to detail and you can tell they try hard to stay accurate to the original books. It’s just a really well done adaptation.”
“Everyone’s acting in the show, specifically their eyes and facial expressions, it’s just so good,” Stephens said. “Especially this season.”
Even for those who haven’t read the books or seen the movies, the show has elements to draw people in.
“I love Greek mythology,” Stephens said. “It’s always been interesting to me, makes the show more exciting.”
Both seasons of the show can be found on Disney+ with all episodes now out.
