Walking through the halls of BHS on February 6, you probably ran into seniors dressed up as a cat, butterfly, or giraffe. They might also have been found singing in the lunch room.

Students had the ability to buy tickets in order enter the raffle for the opportunity to win one of the six senior sidekicks: Piper Raslich, Emmie Sears, Kalynn Schaaf, Tyler Duffy, Blake Gordon, and Alex Koverman. Winning the raffle gave students the ability to assign tasks, outfits, and activities for them and their senior sidekick to complete throughout the day.

During the week of January 19-23, BHS Spirit Committee senior leaders sold tickets during lunch. Raffle ticket sales raised $500 for BHS Spirit Committee, allowing the organization to completely cover Blizzard Bash pep rally costs. All the rest of the funds will be returned to BHS student government, Spirit Committee’s primary fund provider.

Senior Spirit committee member Tyler Duffy found the idea of Senior Sidekick from a social media post. Spirt committee officer Aly West really enjoyed the idea of senior sidekick and thought it would spark large amounts of student engagement.

“I was still surprised how easily people were willing to offer up such large amounts of money just for the possibility to win a senior,” West said.

Senior sidekick Alex Koverman decided to sign up to be a senior sidekick to “let loose and have fun his senior year.”

Koverman additionally played a large role in selling tickets. “I had fun convincing people these people to spend money to increase their chances of winning,” Koverman said.
