Bellbrook High School’s theater department is putting on one of the most iconic musicals this spring: Mamma Mia!
Mamma Mia! is set on a Greek island and tells the story of a young bride-to-be’s pursuit to discover her father’s identity before her wedding day. The musical is set to an iconic soundtrack by ABBA, including hits like “Dancing Queen” and “The Winner Takes It All.”
The production will run in the auditorium this coming April 30, May 1, and May 2. Students involved in the rehearsals are already very excited for the performance.
BHS senior Remy Conwell, who plays one of the lead roles as Donna Sheridan, says this production is especially meaningful for her.
“I personally love Mamma Mia! and its soundtrack,” Conwell said. “This is my biggest role for Bellbrook so far, so I’m really excited for that.”
The role of Donna Sheridan in the musical is a huge role as the mother of the young bride and heart of the story. She will have many songs throughout the production.
“I’m most excited to perform ‘The Winner Takes It All.’ I can’t wait to belt the lyrics,” Conwell said.
Behind the scenes, the cast has been working hard to make the show come to life. Senior Lizzie Visger shares her anticipations. “Rehearsals are always so fun, so I’m really excited for those,” she said.
Visger will play a bartender in the coming production. Her role is one of many of the cast and crew who will help the whole show come together on stage.
