March Madness is a favorite of fans

There is one question when March rolls around and that’s who is going to be a bracket buster and who is going to win it all. March also uncovers which players will raise their draft stock.

Some of the favorites in the NCAA March Madness men’s basketball tournament are teams like Michigan, Duke, Arizona, Florida, and Houston.

But the magic from March Madness isn’t because of the big names; it’s because of the Cinderella teams. “I love the crazy upsets and Cinderella runs that March Madness brings,” senior Alex Koverman said.

Some of the most notable teams ever were the 2018 Loyola Chicago team that had the nationally-loved Sister Jean supporting them also a team like Saint Peters who upset Kentucky and ruined thousands of brackets.

“I enjoy the upsets, unless it’s against the Jayhawks,” math teacher David Kapka said.

The other thing that makes March Madness so magical, though, is the deep rooted fan bases that come along with it. “There is only one team that matters, ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK,” Kapka said, a longtime University of Kansas fan.

People get really competitive about the brackets side of March Madness as well pouring hours of their time into it every year. “Some years I have made thirty brackets but it usually varies between five to 30 each year,” Koverman said.
