The Iran war started February 28 after issues over the country having nuclear weapons and in President Trump’s words, “The Iranian regime cannot continue to arm, fund and direct terrorist armies outside of their borders.”
The war has resulted in deaths tallying up to an estimated 1,900 deaths from just Israeli and American strikes alone. The conflict has also caused a lot of mixed opinions from Americans.
“I don’t feel very positive about it,” Bellbrook senior Tyler Duffy said. “Interviews with our president have started scaring people so I don’t feel like we’re handling it very well.”
“I feel as if we’ve done about as best as we can so far,” fellow senior Cavan McNamara said. “And I don’t think the war will go on for that much longer.”
Things like gas prices and even rumors on social media of a possible draft persist. “Although I know it’s extremely unlikely, I do somewhat have the thought of what if they do a draft,” McNamara said.
“My biggest cause of stress has been the increase of gas prices and the president’s recent choices of words,” Duffy said.
There’s also a lot of confusion with when people think the war will end even after recent words from President Trump stating he believes the war will be over shortly. “I don’t think it will end anytime soon due to the previous foreign affairs in the world,” Duffy said.
