Nazi-Looted Art Found

by Linden Peterson

In February of last year, German officials discovered and confiscated a massive collection of art from Cornelius Gurlitt.  Including paintings, sketches and sculptures, the 1,406 works of art were looted by the Nazis when they were in power.  Gurlitt’s father was an art dealer charged by Hitler to sell the art, but he horded it instead. Now, government officials are working to determine the rightful owners of the pieces, and plans to return them as long as it is legally possible.

Cayla Destefani, a junior at Bellbrook, agreed with the German government’s decision to try to find the owners.  She also said that she did not think that it was right for the art to be hoarded to begin with.
