A match Saturday, May 3 occurred for boxers Floyd Mayweather and Marcos Maidana at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. However, Amir Khan allegedly signed a contract back in December to fight Mayweather. Mayweather says that he had no intention to fight Khan and he would prefer to fight someone for “a better match.” Khan and Mayweather have had Twitter fights about the topic for the past few months, each saying different things. Khan says that this is the next step in his boxing career, confident after winning his past two matches. Mayweather believes Khan is not a worthy opponent and would just recieve a lot of money for the fight regardless of who wins.
Khan had been preparing for this fight after he signed back in December, but the news of the match not being held against him was recent. He was “disappointed in Mayweather and his team” for the delayed decision and for holding out so long with no explanation of why.
