On October 20, we lost an inspiration to fashion lovers everywhere. Oscar de la Renta is a renowned fashion designer, and it is such a shame to say that he has passed away. Though there has been no clear cause of his death, de la Renta does have history with cancer. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2006 but made a statement last year that he was cancer free. Whether this had to do with his death is still being investigated.
Though he has passed, his impact on American fashion can never be forgotten; after all, he was one of the few individuals to “define American fashion,” says MSN. De la Renta was most known for his specialty in evening gowns, and his full skirts with bright, contrasting colors. He has dressed several first ladies such as Jackie Kennedy, Hilary Clinton, and Laura Bush. His designs were recently worn by Amal Alamuddin on her wedding to George Clooney in Venice. You can see his gowns all over the red carpet at Hollywood events too; his designs are just as iconic as the people who wear them. Below are some of his most popular looks.
