In September, Bellbrook became the home away from home for 12 visiting Chilean Exchange students from Thomas Jefferson High School. The students spent a week in Washington D.C. before traveling north to the suburbs of Ohio for a week and a half. This program has been sending exchange students through Thomas Jefferson School in Chile. Although Chile is 5,304 miles away, the Chilean students were welcomed by Bellbrook students with open arms and eager minds. As Danae Rubio, one of the exchange students, said, “The biggest difference between Thomas High and Bellbrook High is the student sections. Students at Bellbrook care about school events and supporting the the sports teams, unlike my school.” Even though the host families only had a short amount of time to bond with their exchange student, some still keep in touch by social media, such as Snapchat and Instagram.
