The time is coming for the annual Key Club blood drive on Monday, December 11. There was an informational meeting in the new cafeteria on Wednesday, November 29; but no fear if you missed it, there will be another meeting held on Tuesday, December 5. This meeting will cover all requirements for donating and will give you ample information on the process of donating blood.
If you are 16 and older and interested in donating blood it is recommended that you attend the meeting. If you are unable to attend the meeting on Tuesday, see Mrs. Kaffenberger in the nurse’s office for additional information. If you want to register to donate blood you can get a registration form, hall pass, and time slot also in Mrs. Kaffenberger’s office.
You can sign up to donate during anytime of the school day. At the blood drive there will be a check in and a brief physical performed to ensure you meet the requirements for donating. A regular blood donation consists of one pint of blood. After you donate there will be a refreshments area with snacks and chairs for you to recuperate. Once you are fully recovered, you can head back to class.
Why should you donate? Over the summer months, the American Red Cross Association had a blood shortage and was desperately in need of donors. The donation of blood is a constant necessity in hospitals and is crucial for some patient’s survival. Your contribution makes a difference for those in need. Please consider donating blood; one pint of blood can save lives.
