What can students do over summer break?

by Chi Steadman

For Bellbrook High School students, summer break officially starts on May 22. There are many things people can do over summer break with friends, family, or even solo.

Students who are looking for community service opportunities can join the Google Classroom math teacher Mrs. Rivero has made for students and find opportunities there.

Looking at what the community around you is doing will also bring up some fun summer activities you can partake in with family and friends. The Fraze is a good source for some activities in Kettering, featuring movies, concerts and other events. “Most of the time it’s a concert, an outdoor concert venue, but this summer The Fraze is starting big movie screenings,” English teacher Ms. Lewis said. “It’s just reruns, like it’s old movies.”

On those extra hot days, you can go to the cinemas to view newer movies with friends and family at local cinemas, such as Cinemark at The Greene.

Bellbrook also has a community page where you can find events to partake in. For some underclassmen, this is also a good source for people to look at when getting a job or engaging in the community. “I encourage students to participate in things and have a chance to explore those things that you’re interested in doing,” art teacher Mrs. Parsons said. “Things that maybe you don’t have time to do during the school year.”
