Going into the sectionals and districts, making state was the last thing on Brody Seitz’s mind.
“I was not expecting to make it, but I had all the faith that the team would make it,” Seitz said. He went into the sectionals as the No. 5 golfer on varsity.
To get to state, Seitz first had to shoot the round of his life at districts; and he definitely did. The senior shot his personal best, 71, placing him 2nd individually, and advancing him to the state tournament.
Seitz felt there were some key things that set his round apart at districts from any other he’s played. “Shooting my personal best at districts involved making a lot of 5-6 foot putts for par and hitting my 7-wood really well throughout the round,” Seitz said.
“My experience at state was super cool,” Seitz said. “It was an awesome environment. I was super pumped to play in it.” His teammate and fellow senior, Luke Wehner, as well as the rest of the varsity team went to NCR Country Club to watch his round and support him throughout the two-day tournament.
“It was a bit of a shock when Brody made state,” Wehner said. “He stepped up in a big way for himself and for the team, giving himself and us the chance to go to state.”
