Dayton is a Runner’s Town

Runners of all ages participated in races Saturday, September 20. BHS hosted the Bellbrook Invitational, the biggest cross country meet here.

Also held was the Air Force Marathon, where people of all ages run or walk a marathon or half marathon. Over 15,000 runners from all around the country run in the Air Force Marathon. Over this weekend they offer a 5K, a 10K, a half marathon, and a full marathon. The leading time was 2:28:15 ran by Steve Chu from Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The Bellbrook Invitational is a competition between 15 schools and about 300 students. The Bellbrook girls’ cross country team took first overall and the boys placed second. Currently, the boys hold 9 of the top 10 spots in the league, with freshman Kyle Miller leading the pack with a time of 17:40.10. The girls are also currently winning the league by holding 8 of the top 10 spots. Sophomore Kayla Parker is in first with a time of 20:09.00.
