Starting September 23, the U.S and five Arab Nations have joined together with the common goal of dismantling ISIS in Syria via airstrikes. The airstrikes target ISIS bases and supply lines and are being carried our because of ISIS’s control of Syria and its apparent role as a terrorist regime.
ISIS and its members are believed to be acting in the interests of President Bashar Al-Assad, the president of Syria. ISIS has brutally murdered thousands of their own citizens of Syria, many of whom were innocent civilians, along with U.S journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff.
Bellbrook High School junior Dalia Alkhawaga said, “It was a very good step for America to take the initiative of actually going in and taking out ISIS bases in Syria,” but “I wish they had gone in earlier” to “help out the innocent people dying in Syria.” The five Arab nations aiding in the strikes are Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and Jordan.
