The leaves are turning and the temperatures are dropping as the regular seasons for fall sports are coming to an end. Our Golden Eagles’ performances this season have been nothing short of incredible as four out of our eight fall sports teams won the SWBL title and our football team is aimed to change that to five.
Although the football team is playing regular season games, an SWBL title appears to be within reach. The team is currently tied for first with Monroe. Both teams are 4-0 in the league and play each other at home October 24th at Monroe. The team has come back from a 0-2 start to the season and is currently 5-2.
The Golf Team played exceptionally well this year finishing the season with an overall record of 8-3 and an SWBL record of 3-2. The team was led by Seniors Miranda Greene, Chad Bacon, Holden Hicks, Dylan Potter, Harry Gildner, Matt Ratcliffe, and Parke Joyner.
The Women’s Tennis team had quite the season, winning the SWBL with an overall record of 7-0 and an SBWL record of 6-0. Key victories this season included a 3-2 victory against a very tough Oakwood team and 5-0 shutouts versus Middletown Madison, Eaton, Valley View, Franklin, and Monroe. The team was led by seniors Hannah Songer, Megan Yates, Megan Bias, and Caroline Wong and junior Rachel Heinz.
The Volleyball team also managed to bring the SWBL title home this fall. They finished the season with an overall record of 19-3 and an SWBL record of 11-1. Defeating Monroe once and Eaton twice were essential to the team’s first place finish.
The Women’s Cross Country Team finished the regular season with a phenomenal finish at the SWBL race that took place at our very own home course this year. Runners Kayla Parker, Asami Ford, Madison Pelfrey, Maddie Crane, and Emi Ford made the 1st team All-SWBL. Runners Lauren Kemper, Kira Barklay and Maria Gerbic made the 2nd team All-SWBL. The team was led by Senior captains Asami Ford and Maria Gerbic and Junior captain Casey Murphy.
The Men’s Cross Country Team also performed very well this season, taking 3rd at the SWBL meet. Connor Robinson and Nico Taylor made 1st Team All-SWBL. Kyle Miller and Cole Weslow made 2nd Team All-SWBL. This year’s team did not have any Senior runners and were led by Junior captains Jeffery Simon, Kyle Okolowitz, and Mitch Hughes.
The Men’s soccer team continued their tradition of winning this year by claiming their 23rd consecutive SWBL title. Spencer Powlette and Josh Mauser led the team in scoring with 9 goals apiece this year. The Eagles were led by Senior Captains Payne Sigman, Peter Cinibulk, Ryan Remaly, and Josh Mauser.
The Women’s Soccer team finished the season with an overall record of 11-2-3 and an SWBL record of 10-0-2. The Eagles tied Monroe’s record for 1st in the league. Monica Hennen led the team in scoring with 8 goals and 3 assists this season.
Teams are now engaged in tournament play.
