A Delta Airlines’ passenger jet skidded off a runway at LaGuardia Airport and crashed into a fence as it tried to land on a snowy runway on Thursday, March 5. According to NBC New York, the plane was carrying 127 passengers and sparked a minor fuel leak in one of its wings, causing evacuations and injuring multiple people. Among the passengers was Giants tight end Larry Donnell. Two dozen people reported minor injuries and three people were taken to the hospital.
The flight was inbound from Atlanta and reportedly slid off the runway at 11:10 am. LaGuardia closed its runways after the incident, but reopened by 2pm. Yahoo News said that Executive Director of Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Patrick Foye, said, “I think the pilot did everything he could to slow the aircraft down.”
