“Chewie…we’re home,” says Harrison Ford as Han Solo thus ending the newest trailer for Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, the latest installment in the saga. Ford is back playing Han Solo along with Carrie Fisher as Leia Organa and Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker.
It seemed the series had come to an end with the release of Revenge of the Sith in 2005, but this all changed in 2012 when Disney offered up a whopping $4.05 billion and bought Lucasfilm. With this came the announcement that there were more Star Wars films on the way.
Disney now owning the franchise is only one of the many major changes taking place with the newest film. George Lucas is no longer directing the film. J.J. Abrams, the director of the past two Star Trek films, has taken over with the additional role of being a co-writer.
Regarding the plot of the film, little is known but that it takes place 30 years after Episode VI – Return of the Jedi. Despite knowing so little of the film, fans are split on whether or not the film will be a letdown like many perceived the prequels to be. Nonetheless, old fans and new ones alike are excited for the release of the new films.
