Ivy Park- New Athletic Clothing Line by Beyonce Knowles

By: Harmony Takhar

Beyonce Knowles-Carter has been pretty busy lately, from her jaw-dropping performance at the 2016 Superbowl to her announcement of a new album to be released this year not to mention she’s a mother of a 4-year old girl, Blue Ivy, meaning she’s really putting in quite a bit of work. Somehow, among all the projects she’s working on, she was even able to design an athletic clothing line called Ivy Park.

The Ivy Park line was released on April 14. The line is available at Topshop, Nordstrom, and Zalando, in stores and online. Most of the clothing sold out pretty quick in stores. I went to Nordstrom the day after and they had nothing I wanted in my size. Fortunately, there is a good chance that the line will be restocked.

The inspiration for Ivy Park was obviously from Beyonce’s daughter, Blue Ivy, and not so obviously, Parkwood Park, a park in Houston, Texas, where she used to go to when she was young. If you go onto the website, ivypark.com, then you can see her entire line, which consists of 36 different pieces. Most of the line is in shades of black, white, grey and some blue. The website also has a video, called Where’s Your Park, in which she explains her emotional connection to Parkwood Park. Mrs. Knowles-Carter explains how the Park has helped her grow as a person; she’d go there when she was sad, when she was happy, just to free her mind. She went there when she lost her first child, when she had her next child, and she continues to go even today.

Now I know what you’re thinking, how expensive is this line exactly? Well, I have some good news. The line is a little expensive, but totally affordable! She has T-Shirts that are around $25, there are shorts for about $30, and sandals for $28! Cheaper than Nike, and maybe even higher quality! Then there are also some things more expensive like the bodysuits, which are about $108+. It’s not too bad for athletic wear.
