Fall Sports End Their Seasons at BHS

Girls Cross Country won the SWBL Championship for the second year in a row, lead by freshman Avarie Faulkner running at 19:07 to place third. Not far behind in fifth was junior captain Elise Kemper. Fellow classmates Cara Fine and Minami Ford placed eighth and ninth running under the 20 minute mark. Rounding out the top ten was freshman Emily Pelfrey. Sophomore Kayla Paul and junior Rachel Kahler earned second team honors. The team won Districts for the second year in a row and look to win regionals this weekend and book a trip to State.

Boys Cross Country had a very young team this year. The boys placed third at SWBL lead by junior and first year runner Max Bretland who ran a time of 16:15 to take the individual title. Bretland is only the fourth-ever Bellbrook male runner to accomplish this feat. Senior Cole Weslow, sophomore Trevor Bowers, and freshman Takumi Ford earned second team honors. The season ended for the team with a 10th place finish at Districts. However, senior Cole Weslow continues onto Regionals.

Boys Golf had a very young team, with only one senior in Joey Derrico. Zach Crampton lead the team in lowest average and was also awarded SWBL honorable mention.

Girls Tennis finished 2nd at the SWBL tournament. The team had an overall record of 16-6. The Golden Eagles had two individuals earn first team honors, a set of double partners earn second team, and an individual was awarded honorable mention. Those athletes were junior Andre Szep who played first singles and senior Shea Foster who played second singles. Second team members were senior first double partners Abby Schultz and Paige Buttery. Sophomore Anika Arora was awarded honorable mention.

Boys Soccer eked out the SWBL title for the 26th year in a row! The boys’ team lost in the second round of the tournament to Alter 2-1 in a hard-fought game. The boys were led by four seniors, three who are captains.

Girls Soccer won SWBL for the third time in four years. The team went undefeated in the regular season, the first time in over 10 years. The girls won a thriller in the District Championship winning 2-1 by penalty kicks. To get into the district finals the Golden Eagles won a two overtime thriller vs. Bishop Fenwick.

Volleyball kept the streak going and won SWBL yet again. This title makes it four in a row for the Lady Eagles. Only having one senior, the team looks to continue their success next year. The team lost in the Sectional Final to a very talented Bishop Fenwick team.

Football improved to 7-3 after a win versus Oakwood. The team won Thursday Night Lights beating Tecumseh on the road to become TNL champions for consecutive years.
