The Oscars is an event where the best in entertainment is crowned. Ranging from the arts, movies, tv shows, even a retired NBA player, the Oscars has something for everyone. Throughout the night, there were lots of politically charged statements and speeches. However, in between the chaos, winners would be named and dreams were completed.
The best picture went to The Shape of Water. It won because it represents what America needs now: love. In the movie, outsiders band together and love each other not in spite of their differences but because their differences made them unique.
The best actor went to Gary Oldman for his part as Winston Churchill in The Darkest Hour. Frances McDormand won best actress for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. “Remember Me” from Coco won the best original song. Coco also won best animated film.
The night was filled with other winners as well. Kobe Bryant won an Oscar for a poem he wrote about basketball and turned into an animated short.
