Bellbrook Hosts SWBL Track Meet

By: Kirsten Thomas

Wednesday and Saturday, May 11 and 14, Bellbrook hosted the SWBL meet. The league was split into two divisions this year. Bellbrook girls finished third in their division and the boys got second.

The East divisions include Bellbrook, Oakwood, Franklin, Monroe, and Waynesville. The West division is made up of Brookville, Carlisle, Eaton, Madison, and Valley View.

The meet on Saturday started at 9 am. Thanks to an excellent group of volunteers, things went smoothly overall, and the meet was finished in under four hours. There was a slight issue with the 110 hurdles when the last one was missing.

Top finishes came from both Bellbrook teams. Juniors Kirsten Thomas and Cate Lensch got first and second in the pole vault. In men’s pole vault, Seniors Isaac Lefeld and Tony Jiovani also got first and second. Previously, Lefeld broke the school record of 14’ by jumping 14’8”.  He also won the 110 hurdles on Saturday. Other first place finishes came from sophomore Lorelai Wolverton in high jump with a PR of 5’0, and senior Corinne Fleck in the 100 dash.

Junior Emily Crane got third in the 100 hurdles and junior Hayley Bullock and senior Jacob Razics both finished third in shot put. Both teams have enjoyed a successful season overall with many PRs from all athletes.

Friday, May 20, Bellbrook is also hosting the District Championships. Coaches are encouraging everyone to come support!
