Heartstopper is an LGBTQ+ love story between Charlie Spring and Nick Nelson. Charlie Spring is an openly gay student who just got out of a relationship. Nick Nelson is struggling with his feelings towards Charlie.
Heartstopper’s first season came out April 22. Heartstopper is based on a web comic and a graphic novel written and illustrated by Alice Oseman. She originally wrote a book called Solitare where Nick and Charlie appeared. She became attached to those characters that she decided to write a whole story based on them.
The new season will be coming out August 3.
According to PopBuzz, Oseman created Season 1 of Heartstopper during the pandemic and it took around ten months to make. She had to deal with actors and crew getting Covid and delayed shoots.
After Oseman’s big success with the Heartstopper comic, she made some spinoff series that included new characters. Some of the new books include Loveless, Radio Silence, I Was Born For This, and other stories. Some of theses stories don’t include the characters from Heartstopper but they all have some sort of inspiration for LGBTQ+ kids who are struggling with their identity.
Season 2 will follow the webcomic, described by the readers as sad and relatable.
