Bellbrook Spirit Committee brings community together for Spring Sports event

By: Aly West

The Spirit Committee is inviting students, families, and residents within the Bellbrook community to come out and support some of the high school’s sports teams on Friday, May 8.

The event will start at 6:30pm with both baseball and softball games already started at 5:00pm. Soon after, the boys’ lacrosse will hold their senior night game at 7:30pm.

“We are really trying to bring more awareness to our spring sports,” Spirit Committee club advisor Amanda Brenner said. “We have three games going all at once, which doesn’t happen very often.”

The Spirit Committee will also be hosting a half time game called “stack attack” at the lacrosse game around 8:00pm. Senior David Gregory is set to be the host for the half time game.

“Stack Attack just means we’re going to have different groups of people,” Brenner said. “They have to stack these boxes up as high as they go without it toppling over. It’s just something fun for people to watch during halftime and hopefully we can get enough high school students to participate in it.”

“It will definitely be really thrilling because you get to see random people try to win by stacking boxes,” senior Allison Gerbic said. “Also we’re going to be able to pull people from the crowd.”

During the games, there will also be opportunities for people to enjoy food and drinks from Kona Ice, Bellbrook Nutrition, and Seasoned with Love.

“Seasoned with Love is going to be a surprise for me and whatever they have to offer because I haven’t tried it yet,” Gerbic said. “I’m really excited and always down to have some food.”

The Supportive Peers will also be coming out to support the baseball and softball teams and inviting peers and their families to attend.

“I’m really just hoping that students come to these games and realize how much fun spring games are,” Brenner said. “Also I’m hoping we get a good senior turnout because it will be their last official day of school–kind of like their last hurrah at a game–and hopefully that’s special for them.”
