The impact positive habits have on Bellbrook youth

By: Gracelyn Williams

Many Bellbrook high schoolers try to find coping strategies to deal with their day to day pressure. Most Bellbrook students play sports and exercise to relieve stress because there are many sports opportunities in Bellbrook. Most teens try to balance between work and staying healthy. “I always try my hardest to get enough sleep and I’m in weight lifting to get my exercise in,” junior Niema Reenie said.

There are many different positive habits you can adapt to elevate your life. The habits you adopt in high school can follow you into adulthood.

Exercise is one of those important habits you want to adapt into your daily routine, because it can make you both physically healthy and play into the mental side, but it can also make you fatigued. The recommended amount of exercise for youth is 60 minutes a day.

Having a healthy sleep schedule is extremely important. Like CDC advises, “Enough sleep can make you get sick less often, lose more weight, reduce stress and improve mood.” And having a good mood can really help with staying awake and aware during school work to let you be more effective and productive during the day in all aspects, not just school. Teenagers need at least 9 in half hours of sleep a day to be at their highest performing level.

Eating healthy foods can improve your mood and make you feel lighter and more energetic, because you’re putting healthy nutrients into your body. It’s smart to make sure your plate has a healthy balance of each food group with minerals, fibers, and protein in your day to day meals. Staying on track with positive habits can really improve teens day to day life, just give it a try!
