Bellbrook Volleyball looks to finish spectacular regular season ahead of playoffs

The Bellbrook High School volleyball team is putting together a historic campaign, building a powerhouse season defined by state-level dominance, signature wins, and a team-first mentality.

Currently holding an impressive 18-1 overall record and a 9-0 record in the Southwestern Buckeye League (SWBL), the Golden Eagles are ranked No. 4 in the Associated Press Division III state poll. Their resume features marquee victories over traditional powerhouses Badin, Ross, and Centerville, highlighted by an impressive five-set victory against Badin that stands as the emotional high point of the season.

The ranking and record are another milestone for a program that hasn’t captured a District Title since 2007. For assistant coach Lynzee Allen in her 14th year at the program, this season represents the height of a long-term build.

Allen said the difference in this year’s squad comes down to how the players interact when the lights aren’t on them. “I believe the key to our success is how well our players get along on and off the court,” Allen said. “They are selfless humans who genuinely care about each other’s success. They have the mentality ‘we before me.’”

Bellbrook’s success has come from complete alignment between the bench and the court. The Golden Eagles have paired elite skill with depth and chemistry, helping them stay near the top of the state rankings as the postseason approaches.

Junior captain Kenley Von Handorf said the team’s success has not come down to individual accolades, but rather a shared accountability across the entire roster. “The key to our success has been our team chemistry,” Von Handorf said. “We all love and support each other, and it’s been a huge part of our success. My role on this team as a captain is to keep everyone on track for our goals and to push us to be the best we can be.”

The high ranking and strong record also come with added expectations, but the Golden Eagles are focused on securing the No. 1 seed in the upcoming tournament as they look to make a deep postseason run. With SWBL play wrapping up and the tournament ahead, Bellbrook will have to maintain their momentum to break the program’s 17-year district title drought.
