SWBL Golfer of The Year reflects on season

By: Carsen Caldwell

Junior Liam Reynolds started golf when he was just 8 years old, but he really started to take it seriously around 7th grade. “I love golf because it is very individual,” Reynolds said. “It forces me to make my own mistakes, as well as my successes.”

Reynolds fell short during districts this year. “When I heard the news that he didn’t make it to state, I was shocked and overall very disappointed for him since I know he is capable of more, and wanted to do a lot better,” friend and junior Luke Higginbotham said. “I was planning on watching him at state”

“I feel like this season was successful,” Reynolds said. “I was playing really well towards the middle of the season, but I wasn’t able to carry that into some of the more important tournaments towards the end.”

Despite Reynolds’ unfortunate performance in districts, he had an exceptional Southwestern Buckeye League match, winning SWBL Player of the Year and receiving first team all league for the second year in a row.

“Nothing feels better than finishing a five-hour round and having shot a good score,” Reynolds said. “That’s why shooting under par after the SWBL match is my favorite golf memory.”

The SWBL player of the year is excited for his 2027 season and redemption next year.
