Bellbrook football player feels new energy in undefeated season

Finn Gabbard is a junior running back in Bellbrook High School football. Gabbard cites the energy of what BHS is doing differently this year than other years. “The energy in the locker room is really crazy,” Gabbard said. “The guys are really excited and we play a song called Wagon Wheel. It helps us get put together as a team.”

“It’s a great feeling coming to practice,” Gabbard said. “There’s like a good pressure.”

Gabbard sees differences in practices this year than last year. “Everybody has way more energy, and there’s more of a point to coming to practice,” Gabbard said. “Last year we had a losing record, and practices felt boring, even with all the music we play and seeing my friends, but this year, it feels like there’s a point on being at practice.”

BHS has five coaching staff on the football team. They all have a purpose, and teach all the players about football, how to be good at it, and also just give life advice so they can succeed as a human. “The coaches definitely help us with out film, and the little things,” Gabbard said.

Mr Jenkins, PE/health teacher and the head coach of BHS football, inspires the team for not only being a good athlete, but by being a good young adult in everyday life.

The football team has found many supporters. Mr. O’Dell, BHS athletic director, said that BHS has sold many more tickets this year than previous years. Gabbard has a message for all the supporters out there: “We’re going to state.”
