Bellbrook High Schools (BHS) student government from classes of 2027-2030 have been working hard to plan school events so far, most notably Homecoming, which everyone helped with but the senior officers got to lead the event.
The Freshman representatives include Johnathan Campbell, Jack-Henry Seitz, Asa Shroyer, and Braden Craig. “I like student government so far,” Campbell said. “Working on Teacher Turkey is fun.”
“Personally, I think we all just appreciate how we are more involved than what we did as middle schoolers,” Seitz said. “We all like knowing we were behind the events.”
The sophomore representatives include Ava Kaphammer, Riya and Raina Patel, and Jana El Sharif. These four also served as freshmen representatives and were specifically given the task of organizing the Bellbrook talent show and mentoring the freshman. “It’s a great way to get involved in the community, and we love representing our class,” Patel said. “Also we plan on running a 4-year dynasty, but I think we might argue amongst each other when we have to run for president,” El Sharif said.
The junior representatives include Kenley Von Handorf, Deanna Le, Jimmy Sowle, and Trevor Raker. They were given the responsibility of planning Prom. “I like being able to communicate with the entire student body,” Sowle said. This is Sowle’s first year serving on student government. “We like being able to fundraise money in order to benefit other clubs amongst BHS,” Le said.
The Seniors include Olive Varvel and Camilla Bozzuto as senators, Anson Jang as vice president and Ella Kaphammer as class president.
“I ran because I wanted to represent my class, and I love seeing the impact I have made so far,” Jang said. “From my 4 years of experience, I love being able to plan events that make school fun. That is the most standout thing to me,” Kaphammer said.
The next event planned by student government is Teacher Turkey, which is the week before Thanksgiving break. The cause is raising money for a local charity and working to put a teacher in a turkey costume.
