The movie doesn’t open until November 21st, but Mockingjay is already shocking advance ticket sellers. Fandango and Movie Tickets report that advance tickets went on sale starting Wednesday, October 29 and already Mockingjay, Part 1 sold more first-day tickets than any other 2014 film.  The second-to-last installment in the Hunger Games franchise accounted for 80% of Fandango’s daily ticket sales just on the first day.

The trailer for Mockinjay was released Wednesday, October 22 and titled “Choice.” The trailer shows protagonist Katniss, played by Jennifer Lawrence, finding out that Peeta, played by Josh Hutcherson, is alive. Peeta advises the rebels to “put their weapons down” which is conflicting to Katniss.

According to USA Today’s Maria Puente, “The box-office tracking on Thursday showed such huge numbers that it appears as if the movie could match the $158.2 million North American debut of sequel The Hunger Games: Catching Fire a year ago, reports The Hollywood Reporter.” The current record holder of 2014 is Transformers:Age of Extinction at $100 million.
The sound track was also released the same time as the movie trailer.
