Both Bellbrook soccer teams finished their 2014 seasons strong. The girls’ soccer team tied for 1st in the SWBL with Monroe, and moved on to regional matches before ending their season with a 0-1 loss to Tippecanoe in regional finals.
Bellbrook’s boys’ soccer has advanced even further in competition. They won SWBL as well in a 6-0 win over Eaton, bringing their streak of consecutive league titles to twenty-three years. Playing to win districts, the boys’ team went up against McNicholas and ultimately won 5-4 after regulation play ended with a 0-0 tie, a first round of penalty kicks again yielded a 4-4 tie, and finally in a second round of penalty kicks, Bellbrook secured the lead. This sets a record for the team; it is the first time in Bellbrook’s history that boys’ soccer has won districts three years in a row.
On Wednesday, October 29, the boys’ team advanced into regional matches, starting with a game against Wyoming. They won 5-2, with four goals alone scored by sophomore defensive player Shane Niemeier. The team will compete in regional finals against Bishop Watterson at Wright State University at noon Saturday, November 1.
