The Bellbrook Mentor Choir is a great way for students to enjoy music. The program was first offered 3 years ago in the 2011-2012 school year and has taught students of BHS to sing and love music. Mentor Choir is not a class; it is an extracurricular activity that takes place in the choir room during mentor on Tuesdays and Fridays. It is open to BHS students who love music and can “live, eat, and sleep,” according to the director of the group, Mrs. Barb Siler.
Mentor choir is perfect for anyone who didn’t have the space in their schedule for a choir class and is a popular activity for students in and out of band. Mrs. Siler is always recruiting new voices to try the choir, and as a result, a typical practice has about 50 students with as many as 20 of them being male. In a practice, the ensemble of different voices and levels of experience echo through the music wing of the school. They sing all different kinds of music that Mrs. Siler has acquired throughout her years as a choir and band director.
The Mentor Choir will be performing alongside Bellbrook’s bands in the upcoming March performance, and again in a special choir concert featuring both the BHS and BMS choirs in May. In conclusion, Mrs. Siler would like to announce that, “Anyone is welcome to bring a friend, and to come enjoy music with us!”
