All-Star Weekend

All-Star Weekend for the NBA took place on Valentine’s Day weekend. This weekend was full of events from the three point contest to the actual All-Star game. The games started on Friday, February 13. The match of the Rising Stars game of Team World vs. Team USA was in favor of Team World, 121-112. The first game was the All-Star Slam Dunk competition. The competitors were as followed: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Zach LaVine, Victor Oladipa, and Mason Plumlee. The victor of this competition was Zach LaVine.

The next game was the all-star celebrity game. The west team was composed of Anthony Anderson (Actor), Win Butler (Singer), Nick Cannon (Actor), Mo’ne Davis (Little League Pitcher), Skylar Diggins (WNBA player), Ansel Elgort (actor), Chris Mullin (NBA legend), Robert Pera (Memphis Grizzlies Owner), Sarah Silverman (Comedian), and Jesse Williams (Actor). The east team had the players of Abhishek Bachchan (Bollywood actor), Chadwick Bosema (Actor), Tina Charles (WNBA player), Common (Rapper), Kevin Hart (Comedian/actor), Allan Houston (NBA legend), Kristen Ledlow (NBA Inside Stuff co-host), Blake Leeper (Paralympic athlete), Michael Rapaport (Actor), and Shoni Schimmel (WNBA player). The winner of this game was the West Team, 57-51.

The contestants of the three-point contest were Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, Wesley Matthews, Kyle Korver, Stephen Curry, Marco Bellinelli, J.J. Reddick, and James Harden. The victor of this contest was Stephen Curry with 27 points.
As for the Skills Game, the participants were Jimmy Butler, Jeff Teague, Kyle Lowry, John Wall, Michael Carter-Williams, Brandon Knight, Dennis Schröder, Patrick Beverley, Elfrid Payton, Trey Burke, and Isaiah Thomas. The champion of this game was Patrick Beverley.

Lastly the actual All Star Game, which was the last event of the weekend, was held on that Sunday. The teams were the top players from the Western Conference teams playing on Team West and the top players from the Eastern Conference teams playing on Team East. The outcome was 163-158 in favor of Team West.
