Bellbrook boys’ lacrosse seniors say goodbye at 5/8 event

Bellbrook’s 2026 lacrosse season is coming to an end on a high note, currently on a win streak. The team will continue in the post-season vying for a spot in the playoffs. Bellbrook boys’ lacrosse senior night is on May 8 at 7:30 p.m. Before the game there will be an event at 6 p.m. following the 5 p.m. baseball and softball games. Kona Ice, Bellbrook Nutrition, a t-shirt giveaway, games, and more will be at the event.

Along with the end of the season comes the end of multiple Bellbrook lacrosse careers for the seniors graduating this year. “My goals at the beginning of the season were to make it deep into the playoffs, even though we haven’t accomplished that yet,” senior Noah Barrios said. “The post-season is coming up and we’ll see where we go.”

“I think my freshman year self would be proud of how resilient and talented this team is,” Barrios said. “I have definitely changed as a player because I am better than I was, but also the team has changed. We have a new head coach. The pride and talent has always been there though.”

“I feel like the team has developed a better culture now, not playing for individuals, but more playing as a team,” senior Alex Koverman said. “I feel like I’ve fallen more into that culture as a team too.”

“I’m proud of this team,” Barrios said. “But I will always look back on the state playoff run we had a couple of years ago.”

The Spirit Committee is hosting a final Spring Sports event on the same evening as boys’ lacrosse senior night. “The 5/8 event is our spring Spirit Committee event,” librarian and Spirit Committee co-advisor Amanda Brenner said. “We try to do at least some type of event every single season. This one is all about promoting the spring athletes. They usually get the raw end of the stick. We do a lot of stuff for football, we do a lot of stuff for basketball. So this is just us trying to get students to come and support the spring athletes.”

“On Friday, we have a baseball, softball, and a lacrosse game all at home on a Friday, and that just doesn’t usually happen,” Brenner said. “So that was the perfect night to pick it as our spring event.”

“We invited some vendors. Kona Ice will be there, Bellbrook Nutrition will be there, Seasoned With Love will be there,” Brenner said. “They will all be selling drinks and food, and then we are just really trying to get students to attend, especially baseball and softball, just to have more of a student presence there.”

After the first two games, there’s a plan for the lacrosse team as well, including a half time game full of student section participants.

The Spirit Committee is going to have high school students playing Stack Attack, which is just a game where they have packing boxes and they have to build a tower. “The problem is that the tower will be taller than them,” Brenner said. “So they will actually have to lob boxes up into the air without knocking the tower over.”

“It’s not just for students,” Brenner said. “If this could encourage teachers to come or other community members to come, that’s great. Just trying to spread school spirit in our last hoorah for the year.”
